Today we bring you our first installment of the Rhoaming Artist of the Month. To start off we bring you four very talented artists known collaboratively as AHMIR, the self proclaimed Hottest and most popular R&B Group on YouTube based on real stats (i.e. Channel subscribers and
total video views), coming straight out of Boston. With us we have, “Sing-Sing” (from Philadelphia, PA), “Big Mike” from (Harlem, NY), “Mr. Jones” (from Boston, MA) and “KC” (from Rochester, NY).
How did the group come together?
Several years ago, Mr. Jones and Big Mike formed a friendship in Boston based on mutual respect for one another’s talents. Big Mike made his way to Boston by attending Boston University. Michael Cheung, who is the current manager for Ahmir, had also developed a friendship with Mr. Jones while attending Boston University. Before long Mr. Jones, Big Mike and Michael Cheung each shared a vision of developing a male R&B group. Shortly thereafter, Michael Cheung brought in KC through auditions and Sing-Sing was scouted by Big Mike at a show at Berklee College of Music where he was a student. And the rest is history!
What are some of the group’s accomplishments thus far?
- Receiving heartfelt notes from fans saying how our music has changed their lives
- Being the #1 Most Popular R&B Group on YouTube
- Going on tour in Europe
- Being featured in Billboard magazine and appearing on the charts as an unsigned act
- Winning BET’s 106 & Park
- Putting out our debut album “The Gift” in stores nationwide
What are the group future goal in the music industry?
To be recognized as one of the top R&B groups in the world and remain relevant for years and years to come. A major label record deal is certainly in the works 
What are some trials that the group face ?
It’s very difficult as any type of artist to break into the music industry. The music industry is not what it used to be and they are not signing as many artists as they were before. You really have to have more than just talent to be successful nowadays. With the internet, there are so many artists that are accessible now so you really need to know how to market and promote yourself. You NEED to stand out and create the demand the industry is looking for.
What is some advice that you would give to upcoming/aspiring artists/groups?
The best advice is to be honest with yourself. If you truly have the talent than do everything you can to make your talent accessible to the world and be professional about it. Utilize the internet to the fullest by using YouTube, Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Perform live everywhere you can. Look like a star and dress the part. Image is key. Get great pictures and put together a professional website. If you want to be taken seriously, you need to portray yourself the same way.
