Tiffany Probasco – Best in the Biz

DC Fab! 1 Year Anniversary 008

How did you get started in Professional Blogging?

Kind of by accident really. I, like a lot of people, found it frustrating trying to find things to do in Boston so I decided to start researching things to do; I got on a bunch of list serves, took friends recommendations, and each week I would put up a “note” on Facebook called “You are Officially Invited” which would detail to my friends places to go, things to do, and we’d decide what we’d do that weekend based on my notes. I’ve always been a writer, but that’s where the blogging part kind of got started.

Can we get a run down about The Fab! Empire?

TheFabEmpire.com is a unique niche site dedicated to finding the hottest parties, events and shows in local cities across the U.S. What started out as being a site of “party critics” has gained the strong support of the young urban professional and become a reliable resource on what’s hot and what’s not in the in all areas of things fabulous, primarily in entertainment. We have bureau chiefs in the cities of Baltimore, Boston, Washington D.C., and New York. There are more cities to come in 2010 so stay tuned! We’ve been around 2 years and are really excited about what the future holds for us.

Boston Fab July 25 2008 Weekend 004How did you become part of The Fab! Empire?

A friend who was on the “You are Officially Invited” list introduced me to Joi-Marie DCFab! / Editor in Chief (affectionately called E-I-C) of The Fab! Empire and Mia Hall (BmoreFab!) –back in 2007during a New Years trip to Vegas. In between our fun times we talked business and they asked me to join the team and BostonFab! and it took off from there.

Who or what are your biggest influences?

My biggest influences are probably the words drive, purpose, and passion. I am drawn to people that are driven to succeed in life and are doing things that they are truly passionate about.

As a Blogger what are some obstacles that you have faced?

I think balancing my day job and the life of a night life and entertainment blogger can be challenging. I try to be connected all the time and always want to make sure that our readers have the most updated information as close to real time as possible. Basically I don’t sleep much!

I would also say some people don’t take constructive criticisim well, and some have had some strong opinions about a review or recap, but I put it out there so people can discuss and form their own opinions. And really, if I didn’t care, I wouldn’t write about it. As I like to say “There is a method to my madness” The very purpose of a blog is to create dialogue and discussion as well as inform.

John Legend 12.08 025What are some interesting experiences that you have encountered?

Oh wow! A lot of them can’t go on the record, lol, but…I think just the over-all the responsiveness of the Boston Community has been really great. The most recent “wow” moment for me was when I attended a meet and greet with Mayoral candidate Michael Flaherty and Deputy Mayoral Candidate Sam Yoon and as soon as I introduced myself as BostonFab! Sam Yoon was like “Oh wow! You’re BostonFab! I follow you on Twitter!” That really showed me the span of my reach and that people really are reading! I’ve also got to meet great people, been featured on Television shows….met celebrities…It’s great. I really enjoy helping people discover what makes Boston a great place to live. I feel blessed to be in the position I am in.

Thanksgiving 08 008Any advice for upcoming/aspiring bloggers?

Spell check! I actually got to work on that one myself, but nah really you got to be passionate about whatever it is that you are blogging about. Study other bloggers, read, read, read and do your research! Always write from a place of honesty.

Shout Outs?

Of course I got to shout out the rest of the Fab! Family, Joi-Marie DCFab!, Mia BmoreFab!, Aminata NYFab!, Jasmine GospelFab!, and the rest of The Fab! Empire Team – you guys are THE BEST team a gal could ever be a part of and I totally mean that. And of course My Fab! Fans, The Vixens :) and the Fab! Readers. Y’all are the reason I do what I do so thank you for all of your support.
