Best in the Biz interview with Jae Williams Ceo of Forty8 Three Films Tell
us a little something about yourself?

I am 25, originally from Chicago, IL but grew up in West Medford MA, graduated from Emerson college with a BA in Media Production with a focus on directing. I am proud father to a daughter ..Jada-Marie who keeps me motivated and inspired to be great.

How did you get started in Video Production/Directing?

I always have been a big fan of music and music videos. I love R&B, Hip Hop and Neo Soul…I could never rap or sing but I always found myself creating these visual stories within the song in my head. I never really thought anything of it until I went to school in Atlanta. I went to Morehouse when I graduated high school and back in 02 ATL was blowing up. They were shooting many videos and movies there and I then realized that is what I wanted to do. Spike Lee was an alumni of Morehouse so I felt that I could head in the direction of film making as well. I loved my time at Morehouse but I left to go to film school back in Boston(Emerson College) because I felt that I needed a more hand on approach to my craft.

How did you come about starting Forty8 Three Films?

I could not find a job in my field coming out of college so I figured I make a way to create work for myself. I always had support from my family, friends and community in anything I did…When I was younger growing up in
West Medford, “483” was the first three digits of my house phone. So Forty8 Three Films is just a way for me to pay homage to my community and where I grew up because without there support and guidance I would’n’t be where I am today.

Who/what got you interested in modeling?

I’ve been interested in modeling since I was young, about 11 or 12. I remember going to a audition for what turned out to be a modeling school. I remember walking the runway and loving it. Though my family couldn’t afford to put me in the program the reps wanted me to sign-up. Since then I’ve always felt that I could actually make it modeling. My desires have expanded beyond only the scope of modeling, I am also interested in commercial acting, fashion design, styling, make-up and hair design. I like to consider myself a fashionist.

What’s your biggest accomplishment to date, explain why?

Turning 27, living independently, (without child*) holding myself down with a M.S. degree and looking towards starting my Doctarate degree in Anthropology very soon. I must make this next move in my education to assist me in living a more fulfilled life. Being fulfilled for me is to assist in making life a little easier or more joyfull for others who deserve it. I don’t feel my biggest accomplishment has come to date. There is much more to come ;) . *Nothing wrong with having kids at my age*

Where do you see yourself 5 yrs from now?

Five years from now I see myself gearing up to complete my PhD. From there I will be moving onto bigger and better things.

DJ Dru Nyce – Rhoaming Hottest DJ’s

November 4th, 2009

drunyce5How did you start DJing?

I started DJ’ing bcuz I was always on punishment & had to find a way to pass the time. My brother was a barber (and still is) and he used to cut hair in the basement. He used to play music for his clients from upstairs in the bedroom. He always used to ask me to make sure the music kept playing so he wouldn’t have to keep coming upstairs to change it. So I used to change & flip the cassettes after they ran out. At the time cds were just starting to get popular so he had a few that I would also change as well. This was all at the age of 12-13 yrs old. But one day I got an idea in my head. I said damn! this song will sound hot after this one & what if I can make them mix together?! So I started mixing the songs between a cassette deck & cd player. But that wasn’t enough. My dad had piles & piles of 7 inch records & full length 12 inch albums laying around the house that he had collected through the years from when he used to keep parties. I then located a used record player (turntable) that my dad had & started to play the records, cassettes & cds for my brother and at the same time wondering how to transition from a record player to a cassette and then to a cd. I had no clue. I knew there was a better way. That’s when I was told about a “MIXER”. Which is what is used to basically bridge the gap between multiple audio devices. After all of this I combined the equipment and then started on my journey as a DJ!

Omega Red grew up in the city and surrounding areas of Boston. He led a troubled life resorting to drugs and crime. Attempting to change his life, Omega Red joined the United States Air Force. His service in the U.S. Air Force introduced him to several countries and experiences, which enlightened his perception about music and the world.

Ramiro Torres – Best in the Biz

October 13th, 2009

ramiro3This week we have with us a very special guest, Ramiro “The Freakin’ Puerto Rican” Torres, Boston’s favorite Morning Show DJ from JAM’N 94.5 FM. Lets check it out!

Where is Ramiro from?

Where is Ramiro from? Do you mean the origin of the name or do you want me to answer in 3rd person? Ramiro is an American of Puerto Rican descent (Which means he was born in Boston and his parents still speak horrible broken English).

Haha…How did you get started in radio broadcasting?

I got into it right out of high school. I went to broadcasting school and started interning and basically sleeping at the station until they started paying me.

How did you get the name “The Freakin’ Puerto Rican”?

One day the DJ on air before me said he was going to call me that since he had a friend working on the West Coast that used that name. I hated it and told him not to do it. He did it anyway and it stuck. I’m cool with it now.

ramiro2Who or what are your biggest influences?

No one in particular. I definitely have plenty of people that have influenced  my career, but for certain qualities. I might admire one person’s intelligence, another person’s creativity, and another’s work ethic, but there’s no one person who completely influences me.

What are some obstacles that you have faced?

The same challenges everyone else has faced. I LOVE doing Radio but I’m not a fan of the business aspect of it. It’s just like every other business, good people and bad people, who are just looking to move up and don’t care if innocent people get hurt along the way.

Ivania Nicole – Rhoaming Candies

October 7th, 2009

Ivania3Who/what got you interested in modeling?

When I was little my mother put me in pageants, then by age 6 I quit because a lot of money goes into. After college, I was like “You know what” I’m going to find a way to get in without paying these talent agencies!” You should never put your own money. Now a year and a half later I got signed to a few agencies.

What’s your biggest accomplishment to date, explain why?

My biggest accomplishment is getting this far in such short time. I got in to Maxim Hometown Hottie, Mercedes Benz Fashion week in Miami. Boston Fashion week 08 & 09. I got in to a few publications, including the Boston Herald, Nulinx Magazine Model of the Month, MSM Magazine cover, and spread. Being the first lady of STR8UP Entertainment & Records.

What would you like to be doing five years from now?

Hopefully in five years, I will have a successful career, and hopefully my store is running strong, its a music meets fashion store “Exclusives” located in Worcester, MA. This is a branch of STR8UP Ent. & Records, to give opportunities to local artists, celebrities, and local designers, as well showcasing top name brand clothing.

iva-2-web stewHow would you describe your fashion style?

I’m a chic girl, and really depends how I feel that day, but I dress according to the weather. Very hip. I do all sorts of style rocker, glamor, urban, chic.

What would you say is your sexiest feature?

My stomach! I love it, since I don’t work out it stays in fit! LOL!

What advice would you give someone who is interested in entering the modeling industry?

I’ve said this before, just don’t sit there and wait , because nothing is going to come to you. You need to work hard, and if you really want it, it will come eventually.

DJ Hectik – Rhoaming Hottest DJ’s

October 2nd, 2009

djhectik2How did you know that DJing was your calling?

I knew I wanted to become a DJ after helping my cousin out with his gigs in Puerto Rico. Once I got back to Boston my older sister bought me my first set and it was on. I’ve always been about music, played a few instruments before DJing. My Parents just said I always had a music ear.

How did you get the name DJ Hectik?

I was given the name by my cousin V.S. He’s a local rapper that I always helped get instrumentals to spit bars over.

Where is DJ Hectik from?

I’m from Cambridge, MA. half Dominican, half Puerto Rican.

Where do you see the Art of DJing in 5 years, with the technological advances?

Technology is bringing pro’s and con’s to the DJ scene. A lot more DJ’s now than in the past, but at the end of the day your equipment doesn’t have anything to do with it. You are either born with the skill or not. I just hope the technological advances don’t take away the true art out of DJing because it has already started.

What set you apart from all the other DJs?

I am so universal with the music that I play and can DJ for any crowd. I play enough of everything to make everyone happy. I like to say I’m going to take you around the world.

djhectik1What is one of your most memorable events that you DJ’ed at, and why?

Most memorable has to be the paris hilton party I DJ’ed at Rumor. Not every one gets to DJ and share a stage with such an a-list celeb. Was a dope party!

Erin Daneele – Artist of the Month

September 23rd, 2009

erin4Erin Daneele – Face The Music
Erin Daneele – Lover Boy

On this edition of the Rhoaming Artist of the Month, we have none other then Erin Daneele. Erin is singer, songwriter, and performer, Most recently, she impressed the judges of Gospel Dream, a talent search series on the Gospel Music Channel, and was selected among thousands to participate in the competition! Lets see what Erin has to tell us today!

When and How did you figure out that music was your calling?

I have been singing since the tender age of 2. In highschool, I started writing songs and ever since then knew that music is what I desired to pursue.

What are some of your accomplishments thus far?

God has blessed me with many opportunities and accomplishments. I was selected as a recipient of the Boston City Music Scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, I’m the writer of a jingle used on Hot 97.7 FM and I was graced with the opportunity to work with Chew Entertainment singing background vocals for pop artist JoJo. Most recently, I was apart of what’s known as the gospel version of “American Idol”, the reality television show “Gospel Dream”.

erin2What are some of your future goal in the music industry?

My future goals are to transcend boundaries and limitations that are prevalent in the music industry today.

What are some trials that you as an artist face?

It is important to build a foundation and stand firm on it. As a young female artist, I have been in many situations where I was challenged and had to set limitations as it pertains to other artists and or fans specifically males. I believe that it is imperative to always maintain professionalism in any environment whether it be on the stage, in the studio etc. It becomes trivial and detrimental to your career as an artist and therefore it is necessary for boundaries to be set on an everyday basis.

jeff1What are some obstacles that you have faced?

Obstacles are faced daily and it’s how you react to them that enables you to become successful. I remember  the night the city changed from 18+ to 21+. At 12pm the police came in to every club in the city and kicked all the underage patrons out. We had to go back to the drawing board on how we were going to do a strictly 21+ night. I guess it worked out since we have 7 events a week.

Tell us a little about the events you’ve hosted…

We have done everything from club events to boat cruises to pool parties. You name it, we have covered it. We are always trying to create something new and exciting!

Rhoaming Candies – Maria Meraklis

September 9th, 2009

maria3Who/what got you interested in modeling?

Growing up, my mom always had magazines in the house. I remember going through the pages of Elle and Vogue studying the models, what they wore, the makeup, their poses, everything. I admire the art in the beauty of modeling. I never thought I could be a model since I am short. Melissa Jones (my best friend) inspired me to pursue modeling. She was a featured model on rhoamingparties.com. She is a beautiful person who is as pure as she looks. So, we were on the phone and she asked me why don’t I REALLY pursue modeling. Since that moment on, I went all in. I never gave myself any other choice but to be a model. Without her I wouldn’t be where I am at now.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I will have had spreads in many magazines, launched my lingerie line, My acting career will be blossoming…stay tuned for the rest ..can’t tell you everything.

How would you describe your fashion style?

Creative…I always alternate the clothes I wear or wear it in a way that was not thought of or generally worn. I cannot really say I have one specific style…one day I will dress like dancer, and then in business attire, You might see me in skater clothes, all black or full of color. I might wear lace or leather…but I do love accessories. It depends on my mood for the day or shall I say character…lol.

maria4

What style of clothes do you admire on a man?

Another hard question…hehe…I find many different styles on a man attractive. skinny jeans are cute so are baggy. I love sneakers but I love boots too. Basketball shorts are sexy but so is a suit. I admire all styles, whether it is rocker, urban, athletic, business…just as long as you can rock it. I think boxer briefs are hot…just kidding!
